The hydrophone and software is sensitive enough to detect the smallest of leaks within low pressure gas distribution systems. Full leakage acoustic signatures can be displayed graphically or using the conventional audio output as headphones and HD CCTV live images allow the operator to validate the full survey.

The system includes a pressurised launch and feed system which allows safe and consistent feeding of the system during live insertion work. There are no products available within the gas industry that will match the JD7 technology in terms of multi sensor performance coupled with extreme robustness and quality.

JD7 Voyager™

The JD7 VoyagerTM is the next generation pipeline condition assessment and leak detection technology for both short and long distance pipeline assessments. The Voyager is extremely advanced with technology and sensors, whilst offering cost effective assessments that can be applied to all pipework greater than 4in. diameter.

The system is miniature (at less than 2inches diameter), simple to operate with minimal enabling works required for installation and removal of the device and data. The system may be activated in either free flowing or tethered mode and does not need to be kept central during surveys, meaning the size is drastically reduced.

The LDS1000™ system is the most advanced long distance CCTV and leak detection system available for use within pressurised trunk mains.

The LDS1000™ is capable of 1000m surveys and includes state of the art High Definition CCTV technology coupled with ultra-high response hydrophone technology along with a high powered sonde for precise leakage and acoustic surveys. All three technologies are compiled into one small sensor head dramatically increasing survey distances per day. Maximum operating pressure is 16 bar. Due to the efficient design of the system, results are achievable in very low flow scenarios.

JD7Investigator™

The Investigator is a pressurised pipe inspection and leak detection system for 100m investigations within distribution water mains. The systems camera and hydrophone technology is matched for 75mm to 300mm diameter pipe work for complete asset condition examination and leak finding. Unlike any other commercially available technology, the Investigator can be launched through fire hydrants, pressure fittings, air valves, gate valves and quadrina tapings at full mains pressure. The Investigator is capable of 100m travel with and against the water flow in water mains up to 16bar pressure.

The system is extremely robust, allowing reliable results to be achieved within harsh environments. All light levels are focussed to precisely match the field of view of the camera module, offering significantly enhanced images.

The system uses an electronic or manual drive mechanism to feed and retract the sensor head within the water main. This ensures a consistent feed rate and increases control of the position of the sensor. The mechanism also allows water integrity within pressurised water mains.

The integral hydrophone and sonde is operated in parallel with the camera system, offering visual and acoustic data all as well as locating the area of interest from one operation. The JD7Investigator+ is a pressurised pipe inspection and leak detection system for 100m investigations within transmission water mains. The systems camera and hydrophone technology is matched for 300mm diameter pipe work and above for complete asset condition examination and leak finding. The Investigator+ can be launched through, pressure fittings, air valves, gate valves and quadrina tapings at full mains pressure. The Investigator+ is capable of 100m travel with and against the water flow. Investigator and Investigator+ works in mains up to 16 bar pressure.

The larger head than that of the Investigator ensures high levels of illumination are provided within larger pipes. The system uses an electronic drive mechanism to feed and retract the sensor head within the water main. This ensures a consistent feed rate and increases control of the position of the sensor.

HydrantCam™

JD7’s Hydrant Camera is the most unique product and won the UKSTT innovation award for the technology. The system is a true none-excavation technology and can travel up to 20m with or against the water flow. To date over 8,000 individual investigations have been carried out through fire hydrants. The technology includes the capability to navigate past loose jumper hydrants, buried hydrants and pillar style hydrants. Over 88% success rate is now achievable using this technology. JD7Pipescan™

The PipeScan is an external NDT manipulator designed specifically for pipework to allow precise condition assessment and evaluation. The system uses multiple ultrasonic probes to measure parent material, pit depths and general corrosion. The system is fully automatic and traverses electronically around the circumference of the pipework. For defect analysis there is a XY raster sequence that can be installed. Using this system, allows accurate remaining life expectancy of the pipework to be calculated where thousands of measurements can be acquired in minutes. The NDT system is designed and controlled by JD7 Group specifically for the pipe line industry. Maximum operating pressure is 16 bar.

The PipeScan system will reliably give results even on cast irons which will cause problems for conventional measurement systems. This is achieved due to selected ultrasonic transducers that are matched for this application and not a general purpose transducer.

JD7PipeScan+™

n Nov 2011 JD7 successfully completed the PipeScanner product development as part of a consortium with UK companies Yorkshire Water, Balfour Beatty Utilities and Morrisons Utilities. The project was completed and the final product exceeded all expectations in terms of data captured from the technology.

The Jd7 PipeScan+ is an internal ultrasonic manipulator incorporating focussed ultrasonic probes coupled with a hi-resolution camera system. The PipeScan+ allows pipework of all materials to be scanned, allowing a full dimensional survey to be achieved including multiple wall thickness measurement, corrosion and flaw identification along with lining thickness. Using this system allows accurate remaining life expectancy of the pipework to be calculated where thousands of measurements can be acquired in minutes. The PipeScan+ is configured onto a 100m semi-flexible umbilical, therefore offering 100m maximum capability. This allows pipework to be scanned along the full length giving reliable data on true asset condition.

The PipeScan+ will not be matched with regards to the quality and detail of data captured from the technology and unlike magnetic flux leakage tools the PipeScan+ not only gives average wall thickness readings, but also fully detailed structural assessments.


JD7ROV™

The ROV has been designed for use within large bore pipe work targeted at water, gas and oil industries. This system incorporates high definition video equipment, allowing 360 degree inspections. The ROV is capable of operating up to 2km within 60in diameter pipe work and above. The ROV is fully submersible and utilises explosion proof technology allowing gas and water mains to be inspected safely. The vehicle is controlled remotely by a control station and automated cable drum allowing all parameters to be controlled and monitored.
